Cooper Avenue Baptist Church exists to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, calling all people to know, love, and enjoy Him forever. Through His perfect life, atoning death, and triumphant resurrection, we are reconciled to God and brought into His Church—His redeemed family. As His Church, we live on Mission together, loving one another, making disciples, and sharing the Gospel in our community and beyond, so that all may experience the transforming power of God’s grace.

We stand in the stream of the ancient, historic, and Biblical Church, affirming the witness of the Apostles and the truths upheld in the biblical creeds and confessions. As Baptists we are rooted in a tradition that traces back over 400 years to the Protestant Reformation in England, and perhaps even further, affirming the historic Baptist confessions of faith. And as Southern Baptists, we join over 40,000 churches in cooperative mission—planting churches, revitalizing congregations, educating leaders, and providing relief efforts worldwide.

Core Values & Mission Statement of Cooper Avenue Baptist Church

Cooper Avenue Baptist Church strives to be God-glorifying, Gospel-centered, Church-unified, and Mission-driven.
  • God – We exist to glorify and magnify the one true God, who is holy, sovereign, and worthy of all worship. Our highest joy is to know Him, love Him, and enjoy Him forever. (God-glorifying)
  • Gospel – We proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, who lived a perfect life, died in our place, rose triumphantly, and reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through His grace, we are reconciled to God and transformed into His people. (Gospel-centered)
  • Church – As the redeemed people of God, we are united in the fellowship of His Church. Rooted in the historic and biblical faith, we stand on the teachings of the Apostles, affirm the ancient creeds and confessions, and hold to the historic Baptist faith. (Church-unified)
  • Mission – We are sent to make disciples, love one another, and share the gospel with our families, friends, neighbors, coworkers, city, state, nation, and world. (Mission-driven)

STATEMENT OF FAITH*

I. The Scriptures
The Holy Bible is God's inspired, infallible Word, revealing His will for salvation and serving as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and life.
II. God
There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—worthy of all worship and obedience.
III. Humanity and Sin
Humankind was created in God's image, yet through sin, all have fallen and are in need of redemption. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
IV. Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended into heaven, where He intercedes for believers.
V. Salvation
Salvation is a work of God's grace, received through repentance and faith in Christ. Justification is by faith, leading to sanctification and culminating in glorification.
VI. The Church
The local church is a congregation of baptized believers, united in faith and mission. Christ is the head of the Church, and believers are called to worship, fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship.
VII. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Baptism by immersion is a testimony of faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience, commemorating Christ’s sacrifice.
VIII. The Lord’s Day
The first day of the week is set apart for worship and spiritual devotion in honor of Christ’s resurrection.
IX. Religious Liberty
God alone is Lord of the conscience, and church and state should remain separate, with each believer free to worship without coercion.
X. The Last Things
Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the world and establish His eternal kingdom. The righteous will dwell forever with Him, and the wicked will face eternal separation from God.
XI. Evangelism and Missions
The Church is commanded to take the gospel to all nations, making disciples and teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded.
XII. The Christian Life
Believers are called to live in holiness, loving God and others, and demonstrating Christ’s character in all areas of life.

*Our statement of faith is adapted from the New Hampshire Confession of Faith (1833) and the Baptist Faith & Message (2000) both of which we affirm.

SUNDAYS @ 10:30AM

Times, Location & Style

Join us for worship every Sunday at 10:30 AM.
We also offer Bible study and equipping classes at 9:15 AM.
You'll find us at 804 Cooper Avenue, Yuba City, CA.
Parking is available off of Clark Avenue, next to the Sutter County Public Library.
Our musical worship seeks to blend contemporary and classic styles, incorporating both ancient and modern hymns alongside contemporary songs that celebrate God's glory, goodness, and the work of Jesus through his death and resurrection.
Sermons typically last 30–40 minutes and focus on expositional or exegetical preaching, meaning we aim to draw meaning directly from the Bible rather than imposing our own interpretations. Most sermon series walk through entire books of Scripture, providing a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of God’s Word.

What to Know When Visiting

Whether it’s your first time at Cooper Avenue or your hundredth, you are welcome here! We’re glad to have you with us. No suit and tie are required—just come as you are. We look forward to meeting you! If you need any assistance, our ushers are happy to help.

Families with Children

We love having children in our worship gathering! Feel free to bring quiet toys, tablets with earbuds, or crayons and coloring pages (available in the foyer) to help keep them engaged. Each week, we also include a short children's message before the sermon.
For families with young children, we currently offer childcare for ages 0-3 years during the worship gathering. Our nursery is located in the building across from the worship center. We look forward to expanding our childcare options as we’re able!
